Crooked River Winery Gerringong South Coast Wedding

Crooked River Winery is the perfect place to get married!

Laura and Ryan met at work.  They were a little bit wary at first as Ryan is Laura’s boss!  After many long hours of talking and flirting, they finally started dating.  As they love wineries, the love struck couple went up to the Hunter Valley for their two year anniversary.  They went 4 wheel driving (yes, they both love that too!) up in the Pokolbin Mountains and found a beautiful private lookout, and that is where Ryan popped the question and asked Laura to marry him.

Wedding Photography RAW files – Do you need them?

Requests for RAW files are becoming more common, as uninformed wedding blog sites tell new brides what to do.  I find that clients making these requests often don’t really understand what these files are.  As a wedding photographer, I wanted to give you some correct information regarding the digital files and what to expect, and to explain why we give you your digital copies (the finished edited photos) in JPEG format.

Wedding photography gallery

Every year I put together a wedding photography gallery of my gorgeous couples on their wedding days. I have had the pleasure of many weddings in my local area of Wollongong and the Illawarra, lots of amazing winery weddings on the south coast of NSW, and of course a bunch of the best weddings Bowral and the southern highlands has to offer.

Off the beaten track this year was a brilliant wedding in Grenfell near Young, complete with the best Canola fields (I went crazy when I saw those giant fields of yellow flowers as I drove into the area the night before).  I also managed to jag a castle wedding, and the most wonderful wedding in Fiji at the Intercontinental.

Some wedding trends that we have noticed over the last couple of years are pretty great too.  Firstly having a “reveal” before the ceremony.  This is a beautiful intimate moment just for the two of you, and takes away some of the nerves. You will see one in here where our beautiful bride has used a spare piece of wedding gown fabric to blindfold her groom before the reveal!  Also many couples are feeling that they don’t want to disappear on their guests for too long, so are having a pre wedding shoot with the bridal party.  One of the best differences in my mind, is not caring about having an even number of bridesmaids and groomsmen, and sometimes even having a “bridesmate” or a “groomsgirl”!  But the winner is …. bringing your fur baby to the wedding as a flower dog or ring bearer!!!!

I hope you enjoy my retrospective look and the love and joy that I get to photograph…I have a pretty awesome job!  Thank you to all my beautiful couples who choose Anna Blackman Images to be your wedding photographers. We are honoured!

Ravensthorpe wedding Wollongong – Andrea & Angus

I have been blessed with back to back weddings at my favourite venue in Wollongong – the gorgeous Ravensthorpe!  I’m sure you won’t mind seeing a few blogs, and it’s great to see that every wedding is different – even when the venue doesn’t change 🙂

Angus and Andrea are a beautiful couple who have studied medicine together for many years, and now finally have time to focus on each other and tie the knot!  Their Christmas wedding gave them time to finish exams before frantically organising the final details for the best day of their lives (so far!)

Andrea’s dad has passed away, so her two lovely brothers walked her down the aisle.  As she walked towards the love of her life, you can see her pause for a moment to blow a kiss at her dad – looking down from above.  She also saved a seat for him and put a lovely framed photo of dad on the seat.

I really love the flowers, and specially the use of ivy in Andrea’s lovely floral head piece.  Having a summer wedding is sometimes a little hazardous for the poor boys in their suits, so Andrea decided to let all the groomsmen just wear a vest, which was much appreciated! Andrea bought a big basket full of fabric parasols to help keep all the ladies cool, but I think the boys got a little jealous and decided to have a play 🙂  The quote of the year was brilliant, written by “alcohol”, it was “Trust me, you can dance!”   And alcohol seems to know what it is talking about, because it wasn’t long before the wedding shoes were off and the dancing started!

Special mention goes to the best little flower girl and page boy ever!!  Enjoy, Anna B
